LA RÉVOLTE DES MANNEQUINS

Royal de Luxe were already our guests as part of spielzeit’europa 08/09 with their installation »La Révolte des Mannequins«: a kind of comic strip created with shop window dummies which was shown in the windows of Berlin’s KaDeWe department store. The »Mannequins« told different small dramas in ten different windows over the course of eight days. At the end of this time they broke out of their glass cages and made a spectacular escape across the facade of the building.

»The Mannequin’s Revolt« captivated thousands of passers-by day and night over the course of a week in November 2008. Many people came every day in order not to miss anything and were delighted to encounter art in a place normally devoted to consumerism.
